Diet another day

Pier One
I've been eating a lot the past few days - the past few days where I should have been starving to death. I can't help it though. Went out with my friends whom I haven't hung out in three months, and my cousin arrived from the States.

Why I love WikiMapia

I finally was able to commute to Greenhills by my own. Okay, I had help by asking my friend to alert me when we are at Recto so I could alight the FX. Sorry, I still don't recognize Recto. They all look the same to me. But I digress.

It has been a habit of mine to "review" my travel by looking the route the public transportation took on a map. And I found myself on WikiMapia. While tracing the route, I came across several comments that really cracked me up. Here are some gems:

Survivor

GMA 7 is doing the local franchise of Survivor? Why?! I love(d) Survivor, and I don't know if GMA 7 could live up to the standards and production quality of the original US series. I really don't want to see another Philippines' Next Top Model.

Finally

American Idol contestants sang songs that I actually like and listen to on a regular basis. Well not all of the songs but a couple - Angels by Robbie Williams and Innocent by Our Lady Peace. Finally!

Halo-halo overload

In less than an hour, I devoured two highly-touted halo-halos. A lot of people swear by Razon's and Icebergs' halo-halos. I really really like Razon's version, but the one I had today left me underwhelmed. Quality is not what it used to be, or probably because they had dozens of customers today.

Razon's Razon's Halo-halo
Icebergs' Super Halo-halo is pure hype to me. I'd rather prefer Chowking's version. Should've ordered their milkshake or banana split instead.

With honors

No, not me. But my friend is. She's graduating cum laude at the State University. I'm so proud of her. I can't wait til everything is done and I'll be graduating as well.

Papaya

Call me late, but I never knew that the Papaya Dance was a dance "craze" here. Is that how disconnected I am with the world?

Rage

Burger King, Mall of Asia
I really feel the need to beat the hell out of this person. No, I don't know him but I have talked, err exchanged messages, with him.

Selfish asshole.

In related news, I could feel that our thesis adviser is exasperated with our group. The pressure is building up, definitely. This thesis is slowly turning from alright to bad.

One of my favorite pizzas. Totally worth its price. A Veneto is now open at Mall of Asia.

Busy

After 3 consecutive quizzes, I've got a day to finish writing my parts in Chapters 3 and 4 of our thesis. That's what you call cramming. Yesterday, after our last quiz, my friend and I went to Greenhills to buy stuff for summer. I was a bit disappointed. I guess I was expecting too much (i.e. for prices to be way too low). I did end up buying a pair of boardshorts though. I might go back and buy some more stuff before "the trip". Now, back to thesis. Fuzzy logic seems fun.

Crunch time

Quotable quotes from our dear thesis adviser:

You have so much to do. I don't know why you haven't done anything yet!
No, I don't have any summer classes. That's bad. I will not go to school this summer.
What happened to you? Why did you stop? Did you take a vacation?
You will not enroll in PRO3 next term until you can present a working prototype at the start of the term. Is that a deal?
Note: PRO3 is the subject code for the defense of a group's thesis. It is the last of three subject parts for thesis-making. And now we're doomed.

Correspondence

So one of my closest friends is currently talking with an ex-friend (sort of). That's never a good thing, I suppose. Well, que sera sera.

Better

I'm actually starting to like Manny Pacquaio.

I have always liked him as a boxer, as a sportsman. But not as this hyped overexposed "hero".

But now I'm not as annoyed as before. I can actually tolerate seeing him all over the boob tube.

Creativity

I just spend the past half-hour watching the winners and nominees for Youtube's 2007 Video Awards.

Oh wow. Our planet is really filled with such talented people.

Gayness

I am hating on this professor who insists on sending his lecture files filled with gay baby colors. What irritates me is not the gayness of the colors, but the amount of editing I have to do before printing his lectures.

Longevity

Friendship
It occurred to me that I drop friends like hot bricks. That's never a good sign, I guess. But I do live in the moment. I just envy those who can maintain friendships.
