Sebastian's

Sebastian's Sebastian's
Now I know what all the hype was about. One of the best ice cream I've had. For Php 85, this is worth your bucks. The cup was really big, and the ice cream was rich. I got the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and it had lots of choco chips and chunky dough, which I really loved.

Cold Rock
For a fraction of the price of Cold Rock, this is a better buy. Also better than the Dolce gelato I also recently had. The gelato was too sweet for my taste, and it didn't feel like gelato at all. It was too thin for my liking.

Dolce Gelato
But the owner messaged me saying they were having problems during their first two weeks. It was nice for him to personally ensure the satisfaction of customers though. And they also give free taste so customers can choose which flavors to order. But still, I find that their pricing is too big for the little cup they use.

Food Post, part II

Josephine's Restaurant

IMG_7721

IMG_7706

This was called Mutya ng Cavite Soup and I loved it. I've always loved chowder. I'm not a big fan of Filipino food so I cannot judge Josephine's. I also liked Tortang Alimango, which my father tried copying lately.

Noche Buena
IMG_7577

Ham, cheese, spaghetti bolognese, toast with butter, and a cup of hot chocolate. How more comfort food can you get? I could eat this everyday.

Ajisen

IMG_7532

My family is not that adventurous with food, so it was a feat for me to get their approval to order unagi. I loved their gyoza! In fact, we ordered another one because it was gone in a flash. I wish we had tried their ramen, which I heard was their specialty.

Kanin Club

IMG_7356

I've heard of Kanin Club for a long time already, but I hate rice so I was not eager to try it. Yes, I hate rice. I would even prefer it if I don't eat rice at all!

But Kanin Club's rice was super! I loved it. It's like an entree and rice combined into one order. So worth it. Food was overall great. I liked everything, but I really enjoyed the tapa, lemon chicken, and the rice. Their KC turon is made up of ingredients you can find in halo-halo, like ube, banana, and jackfruit. But it was overrated, I think. Or maybe I was just too full already.

Almon Marina
IMG_7327

My birthday fell on a weekday and I had to go to my internship. Since I'm the only intern at our department, and my bosses do not know that it was my birthday, I ate my birthday lunch alone. I think Almon Marina is underrated. It actually serves nice slow food at not so exorbitant prices. I really enjoyed my lunch. I think I should eat here more often.

Cafe Bola
IMG_7272
IMG_7269

I treated my best friend for dinner in Cafe Bola at Greenbelt. The adobo flakes with goat cheese was amazing. I'm craving right now! Amazing food, even more amazing interiors. 'Nuff said.

Food post

I know it's evil to see photos of food, so I'll just cram everything in a few posts.

Here are the different restaurants, bistros, cafes, and hole-in-the-wall eateries I've tried the past year.

Italianni's

Italianni's

Italianni's

Italianni's

The star of the night for me was the spinach and artichoke dip. Everything was good as expected, but the pizza was underwhelming. Yet two years ago I think I said that they have the best pizza out there. But I think that the price is a bit on the expensive side. There are cheaper alternatives with good food as well like Burgoo and Gumbo.

Yoshinoya

Yoshinoya

I haven't had the chance to eat here yet ever since their branch at SM Southmall closed down several years ago. I didn't know why I thought this was a Korean restaurant. Food was so-so but I think I have to go back again to try their other dishes.

Delicious Restaurant

IMG_8197

My friend Leo and I wanted to eat somewhere in Chinatown just for the adventure. Although we really couldn't afford those restaurants in Chinatown itself, so we ended up in Delicious Restaurant which is just on the outskirts of Ongpin.

Food was not that cheap but the servings are huge. And I mean really huge, so the pricing turned out to be actually cheap. That siomai is thrice the size of regular siomai sold elsewhere. We noticed that everyone was ordering pancit lomi and vowed to order that next time.

Mexicali
Mexicali

No photo of the beef burrito I ate as I was really really hungry already but it was huge! Tons better than Taco Bell, which I must admit I do enjoy as well. Can't wait to try their tacos.

Bugong's
IMG_8120

I've heard so much rave reviews about Bugong's that my expectations were unfairly high. And of course I was disappointed. It still is good thought but not that much different from other roasted chickens.

Gumbo
IMG_7429

IMG_7430

IMG_7445

Worth every penny. Jambalaya still is the go-to food, with the fish and chips a close second.

Sushi-ya
Sushi-ya

Everyone knows that their katsudon is worth evey penny as it really is filling. Lots of vegetables which I like. I must admit I haven't tried ordering anything else, but I'll do soon.

Bona Coffee
Bona Coffee

Bona Coffee

Bona Coffee is better than Starbucks. Their coffee actually tastes like coffee, which I really like. They have free Wi-Fi but what's even better is that they have a computer terminal with a couple of desktops. These are free to use. But what really won me over is how low the calories in their blended drinks are. So if you're on a diet, then Bona Coffee is the way to go.

Last Christmas

This is so late, but last Christmas, these are a few of the gifts we got.

IMG_7810

Marks & Spencer decaf instant coffee. Sadly, I don't drink instant coffee anymore so I'll let my dad have this.

IMG_7808

Beansprout. This is a locally-made eco bag that my sister got.

I've been trying to minimize my carbon footprint. Whenever I buy something from CD-R King or if I buy something small, I ask the clerk not to use plastic bags anymore. I just stuff the items inside my bag. I've been forcing my parents to use green bags as well whenever they are buying groceries or tiangge-shopping. So this gift is a welcome one.

And this is one of the gifts I gave myself:
IMG_8191

I don't really buy anything that costs more than a thousand bucks aside from electronic gadgets like my iPod nano or my digital camera. So it was really hard for me to buy this one but what the heck, I needed a new bag.

Mercury retrograde

I really hope that the current state of my laptop's battery is attributed to the Mercury retroagrade. My laptop used to beep really loud when the battery is about to be fully drained before hibernating. But now it just hibernates without even alarming me! And I think it drains faster than before.

Please let this be due to the Mercury retrograde. I don't want to buy a new battery.

I lost my cardigan

First of all, maybe you're thinking that I'm so shallow for having to blog my lost cardigan. Well, let me tell why:

1. I've been looking for ages for a cardigan that actually fits me, is not overpriced, and is in neutral colors.

2. I came across that cardigan by accident. There's a new Fox branch in Mall of Asia and I debated whether I should check it out since I know that prices could be a bit high. But to my surprise, the cardigan actually wasn't that expensive.

3. I brought the cardigan and my umbrella today just when it didn't rain. And while commuting and walking, I decided to place the umbrella inside my bag instead of the cardigan, which I now realized was stupid.

4. The cardigan wasn't even a month old!

I've called Gateway, SM Cubao, and Ali Mall in the hopes of finding that darn thing. Will try to call them again tomorrow. I actually left a paper bag at Banco de Oro yesterday, and when I called, they have it and I was able to retrieve the paper bag today. Hope I will have the same luck.

Can't stop eating

I promised myself that I would eat less now that the holidays are gone. And besides, I need to save because I'm really broke.

But my friend and I went to Chinatown today to have lunch. Naturally, the servings were big and they weren't cheap either.

Oh well. I'll just start tomorrow.
